Job summary

Bluebird Wellness & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to keep a skilled nursing and senior living facility safe, clean, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors. The role covers facility maintenance, preventive tasks, life safety, inspections, and documentation in a healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, and able to work independently to resolve issues. Experience in healthcare or similar environments is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, apartment maintenance, commercial maintenance, healthcare maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and general building repairs preferred.
  • Long-term care, skilled nursing, senior living, hospital, or healthcare maintenance experience is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with Life Safety, OSHA, preventive maintenance, and facility safety requirements preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance problems and determine appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily facility rounds to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and potential hazards.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and routine repairs throughout the facility.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and weekly inspections of high-risk areas.
  • Maintain the building, grounds, equipment, and physical plant in a safe, sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.
  • Respond to and prioritize daily maintenance work orders submitted through the TELS maintenance system.
  • Complete required preventive maintenance and Life Safety tasks in TELS per regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Inspect and maintain electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Make routine adjustments, repairs, lubrication, and cleaning of mechanical equipment and control systems.
  • Check and maintain light fixtures, exit lights, circuit breakers, room temperatures, and climate control equipment.
  • Monitor water temperatures and other facility systems and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Assist with inspection and maintenance of fire alarms, smoke/heat detectors, extinguishers, sprinkler systems, emergency generators, doors, dampers, and other life safety equipment.
  • Maintain OSHA and Life Safety documentation and logs.
  • Assist with drills and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Monitor service contracts, certifications, inspections, and required documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, parts, and materials.
  • Investigate and address damage to walls, doors, frames, furniture, fixtures, and other components.
  • Prepare resident rooms for new admissions and discharged residents, including maintenance and repairs.
  • Report major equipment failures or safety concerns to Administrator or Operations Manager.
  • Follow safety procedures including OSHA, Lockout/Tagout, confined space protocols, and hazardous material handling.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Keep our facility safe, comfortable, and running smoothly! We are looking for a dependable, hands‑on Maintenance Technician to help maintain our skilled nursing and senior living facility. This position is responsible for facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, life safety, repairs, inspections, and maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently to identify and resolve maintenance issues. Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, long‑term care, senior living, apartment maintenance, commercial building maintenance, or a similar environment is a plus.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform daily facility rounds to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and potential hazards.

  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and routine repairs throughout the facility.

  • Perform regular safety inspections and weekly inspections of high‑risk areas.

  • Maintain the building, grounds, equipment, and physical plant in a safe, sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.

  • Respond to and prioritize daily maintenance work orders submitted through the TELS maintenance system.

  • Complete required preventive maintenance and Life Safety tasks in TELS in accordance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.

  • Inspect and maintain electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, mechanical, and building systems.

  • Make routine adjustments, repairs, lubrication, and cleaning of mechanical equipment and control systems.

  • Check and maintain light fixtures, bulbs, exit lights, circuit breakers, room temperatures, coolers, freezers, and nurse call systems.

  • Monitor water temperatures and other facility systems and make necessary adjustments or repairs.

  • Assist with the inspection and maintenance of fire alarms, smoke and heat detectors, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, emergency generators, fire doors, smoke doors, fire dampers, and other life safety equipment.

  • Maintain required OSHA and Life Safety documentation and logs.

  • Assist with fire drills, disaster drills, door alarm drills, and other emergency preparedness activities.

  • Monitor facility service contracts, certifications, inspections, and required documentation.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, parts, and materials needed for daily operations.

  • Investigate and address damage to walls, doors, frames, furniture, fixtures, and other facility components.

  • Prepare resident rooms for new admissions and discharged residents, including completing necessary maintenance and repairs.

  • Report major equipment failures, significant repairs, safety concerns, or other serious issues to the Administrator or Operations Manager.

  • Follow appropriate safety procedures, including OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout, confined space procedures, and hazardous material protocols.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We’re Looking For
