Naples-Health-and-Reha is seeking a proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our long-term care facility. You will maintain and repair building systems to ensure safety, comfort, and a welcoming environment for residents.

Responsibilities include inspecting HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems; performing repairs, carpentry, painting, and welding as needed; using PLCs and ohmmeters; and keeping detailed maintenance records while collaborating with the team to complete projects on time.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in long-term care.
  • Hands-on experience with tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding and painting.
  • Ability to read schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Strong English communication for documentation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems.
  • Repair electrical systems and troubleshoot using schematics.
  • Maintain plumbing, fix leaks and replace fixtures.
  • Use hand/power tools and PLCs/ohmmeters to complete tasks.
  • Carry out carpentry, painting, and general facilities upkeep.
  • Assist with welding tasks following safety protocols.
  • Support HVAC repairs and unit replacements.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team on projects and timelines.
  • Provide excellent service to staff and residents with professionalism.

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our long-term care facility team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and comfort of our residents by maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and equipment. Your expertise will help create a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment where residents feel cared for and secure. Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical equipment, and building interior components to ensure optimal operation.
  • Repair and troubleshoot electrical systems, including electrical equipment repair and working with schematics to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Conduct plumbing system maintenance and repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, and ensuring proper drainage.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and ohmmeters to complete maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Carry out carpentry work, painting (including residential painting), and facilities upkeep to maintain the building’s appearance and safety standards.
  • Assist with welding tasks when necessary, adhering to safety protocols and technical specifications.
  • Support HVAC system repair efforts, including diagnosing issues with HVAC units and performing necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities using schematics and other documentation tools for future reference.
  • Collaborate with team members to supervise or assist in projects related to facilities maintenance, ensuring timely completion.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing staff or resident requests promptly and professionally while maintaining a positive attitude.
Experience
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role within a long-term care or residential setting is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters.
  • Familiarity with electrical work, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, building interior maintenance, carpentry, welding, and painting is essential.
  • Experience working with schematics for electrical or mechanical troubleshooting is highly desirable.
  • Supervising or leadership experience in maintenance operations is a plus, demonstrating the ability to oversee projects or mentor team members.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, repair & operations (MRO) practices ensures efficient handling of ongoing facility needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English are required to effectively document work orders and collaborate with team members.
