Brittany Manor, under Ciena Healthcare, seeks a Maintenance Worker/Assistant to keep the facility clean, safe, and compliant with policies and regulations for residents, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include mechanical and electrical maintenance, preventative servicing, and ensuring life-support systems operate during power outages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year physical plant and equipment experience in an institutional environment.
• Vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence in mechanical and technical concepts for facility plant repair and maintenance.
• Maintain essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions using technical knowledge and analytic skills.
• Apply building and safety codes to facility situations to ensure quality standards.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance throughout the physical plant and equipment.
• Test and maintain emergency power systems to ensure power availability in emergencies.
• Maintain equipment such as boiler room gear, nursing unit refrigerators, kitchen and laundry equipment in safe condition.
• Test facility hot water system and monitor water temperatures.
• Inspect, test and maintain call systems for reliable room-to-room communication.

The Maintenance Worker/Assistant performs various duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Maintenance services are provided in accordance with facility policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations to enhance resident comfort and enhance the quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence in application of mechanical and technical concepts to facility plant repair and maintenance projects.
• Able to maintain all essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Technical knowledge and analytic ability to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
• Able to apply building and safety codes to facility situations and maintenance procedures and to establish criteria to assure that services provided meet acceptable standards of quality.
• Conducts scheduled maintenance throughout physical plant and for all equipment.
• Maintains and tests the emergency power system to ensure availability of power to all entrances, exits, fire detection alarms and extinguishing equipment, and life support systems in the event of electrical supplies are interrupted.
• Maintains all essential equipment (e.g., boiler room equipment, nursing unit/medication room refrigerators, kitchen refrigerator/freezer, laundry equipment) in safe operating condition.
• Tests facility hot water system on regular basis to evaluate water temperatures in essential locations of facility.
• Inspects, tests, and maintains resent call system to ensure a functioning communication system from rooms, toilets and bathing facilities.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year physical plant and equipment experience in an institutional environment.
• Vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant training preferred.
