Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Pay Range: This range is provided by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $19.00/hr - $19.00/hr

Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as tractors.
• Operate light equipment such as power mowers, chain saws, drills, power saws, etc.
• Use power and manual hand tools including saws, hammers, drills, sanders, and stationary power tools.
• Perform a variety of construction trades including masonry, carpentry, and electrical work.
• Perform general janitorial and maintenance duties.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under supervision of a skilled trades worker, or completion of a two-year technical school course.

Additional Information:

• This is a seasonal, hourly position with an anticipated end date of October 2025. Actual termination will depend on program needs and funding.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to meet transportation needs.
• Ability to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Travel, overtime, overnight travel, weekends, and holidays may be required.
• Must be available for emergency response and after-hours emergencies.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
