Job summary

City of Coral Springs is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to support the Neighborhood Parks Division in the evening shifts. The role emphasizes cleanliness, safety inspections, and basic maintenance across 49 parks and multiple facilities.

Under supervision, you will help with closures, field maintenance, and event setup. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Close assigned parks at end of shift and monitor facilities for safety issues.
• Perform maintenance tasks at assigned facilities and assist with city events.
• Maintain cleanliness of park facilities and restrooms.
• Collect and log daily activities; complete weekly inspections.
• Perform basic landscape maintenance and trash removal.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down venues for rentals and events.
• Provide support for safety and equipment inspections.
• Drag and line ball fields and maintain sports surfaces.
• Respond to safety issues in a timely manner under supervision.
• Complete day-to-day tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide organization, sanitation, and general maintenance in the assigned area of the assigned Department. Employees in this classification perform general and preventative maintenance work. Position is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of supplies in the assigned areas.

This part-time Maintenance Assistant position plays an important role in the everyday operation of the division. It is their responsibility to close their assigned parks, perform maintenance at their assigned facilities as well as making sure there are no safety issues and contact their supervisor about. They are the backbone of the maintenance crew they complete the day to day tasks that are assigned to, assists with city and department events and other assigned duties. Without this position the level of service and standards we currently have would suffer. The Neighborhood Parks Division consists of 49 parks, 6 athletics fields, numerous pavilions, and other areas the department is responsible for.

Work Schedule

Tuesday - Saturday, 6:00 PM - 10:30 PM

• Closing of park facilities.
• Inspecting park facilities for any safety issues that may be present.
• Pick stick trash around the park.
• Clean restrooms.
• Fill out daily logs and complete weekly inspections.
• Complete basic landscape maintenance.
• Work in group projects.
• Drag and line ball fields.
• Remove trash from trash cans.
• Pickup landscape debris.
• Drag and line ballfields.
• Sets up and breakdown halls and rental facilities.

High school diploma or GED preferred. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience in facilities maintenance and working knowledge of tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair work of facilities. Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
