Job summary

Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform repairs and routine maintenance for the community. You will help ensure equipment is safe and serviced, and you will support with prep for move-ins and refurbishments.

The role requires the ability to read and follow safety regulations, work a flexible schedule including weekends, and coordinate with teams to keep buildings clean, safe, and well maintained for residents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements.
• Meets health requirements per State regulations.
• 2+ years related experience in maintenance trades.

Responsibilities

• Documents preventative maintenance program for facility and equipment.
• Maintains grounds and outdoor repairs, lawn maintenance, and waste removal.
• Maintains interior areas, including cleaning and upkeep of vinyl, carpet and furniture.
• Keeps environment safe, neat, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains and repairs equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Prepares apartments for move-in and refurbishing after move-out.
• Identifies issues and communicates them to the appropriate party.
• Coordinates with local fire department for safety procedures.

Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary

Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to assist with all repairs and physical maintenance for the community. Ensures preventive maintenance is scheduled and performed on all equipment as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Documents preventative maintenance program for facility and equipment.
• Maintains grounds including outside community repair, lawn maintenance and garbage removal.
• Maintains inside of community, offices, and communal areas in community, including carpet and furniture cleaning, window cleaning, painting, removal of trash and upkeep of vinyl.
• Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains and/repairs community equipment; ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Prepares apartments for move-in and completes refurbishing of apartments after moving- out, including painting of apartments.
• Observes problems, concerns, issues with resident apartments, the community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
• Coordinates with the local fire department for emergency procedures per state regulations/codes (i.e. fire drills)

Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.
• Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
• 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical repairs, plumbing, and or carpentry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have working knowledge of all necessary local, state and federal safety regulations related to building maintenance and codes.
• Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
• Ability to work on a ladder.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, to meet the position's requirements.
