Job summary

St. James Parish in Red Bank, NJ is seeking two full-time maintenance/custodial assistants to cover facility needs from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role services the church, rectory, Eck Center gym, performing arts center, St.

James Elementary School, and Red Bank Catholic High School. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, basic repairs, cleaning, event setup, inventory control, and reporting issues.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect facilities and report issues requiring maintenance attention.
• Perform a variety of simple maintenance/minor repair activities (painting, drywall, lighting, drains, toilets).
• Lift up to 50 lb. and operate basic power tools as needed.
• Set up and break down chairs and equipment for events.
• Maintain logs for air handling, replace filters, and perform preventative maintenance.
• Custodial duties across multiple buildings and assist with inventory control.

Job description

St. James Parish in Red Bank, NJ is currently seeking two full-time maintenance/custodial assistants from 7:00 am to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, servicing its church, rectory, performing arts center, Eck Center gymnasium, St. James Elementary School, and Red Bank Catholic High School. Salary range - $24 - $26 per hour.

• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude, willing to work well with other staff members and take direction accordingly.
• Routinely inspect facilities and report any issues on the property requiring maintenance attention.
• Must possess basic troubleshooting skills and prioritization skills for handling a busy complex.
• Must possess skills necessary to perform a variety of simple maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property, including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, clearing drain clogs, repairing toilets, replacing lighting as needed, restocking restrooms, and assisting teachers with simple maintenance requests.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lb. items independently.
• Possess the ability to operate various simple power equipment necessary to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and maintain property cleanliness.
• Must be physically able to set up and break down a large number of chairs and equipment for various events.
• Periodically inspect air handling, replace filters and grease components as needed, and maintain logs of this preventative maintenance work.
• Custodial duties as needed in various buildings of the complex. This may include emptying trash cans, sweeping sidewalks, wet mopping sidewalks, operating a steam cleaner, and operating a hand vacuum.
• Assist in inventory control/management/record keeping.
• May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
• Additional salary bonus consideration for candidates possessing NJ low-pressure boiler black seal license.
