Job summary

Absolut Care is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Painted Post, NY. The role supports the maintenance department, works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, and is part of the interdisciplinary team caring for residents.

The position includes routine system checks, repairs, and yard upkeep. Ideal candidates have a high school or technical school background, are at least 18, and are able to communicate in English.

Qualifications

• High school or technical school preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Related experience preferred.
• Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage Mantoux skin test.
• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Carries out and follows all facility policies and procedures in regard to the operation of the maintenance department.
• Acts under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Environmental Services and as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Performs routine checks on major systems such as generator, fire alarms, nurse call system and departmental equipment.
• Conducts periodic inspections of the building.
• Corrects damages to hallways, walls, ceilings, floors, roof, and resident rooms as assigned.
• Assists with duties in electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, furniture refinishing or repair, mechanics, heating, cooling and water systems.
• Maintains outside yard and sidewalks including mowing, trimming, raking, salting, shoveling and sanding.
• Services all mechanical equipment as assigned.
• Demonstrates knowledge of fire alarm and nurse call systems.

Schedule: Days/Evenings

Rate: $16.00-$17.00

Key Responsibilities:

• Carries out and follows all facility policies and procedures in regard to the operation of the maintenance department.
• Acts appropriately under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Environmental Services and acts as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Performs routine checks on major systems such as auxiliary generator, fire alarms, door alarms, nurse call system and departmental equipment.
• Conducts periodic inspections of the building.
• Corrects all damages to hallways, walls, ceiling, floors, roof, and resident rooms as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Assists with the performance of any or all duties concerned with electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, including furniture refinishing or repair, mechanics including equipment and mechanical systems, heating, cooling, and water systems; except those services performed under outside service contracts.
• Maintains outside yard and sidewalks including mowing, trimming, raking, salting, shoveling and sanding.
• Services all mechanical equipment as assigned.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the fire alarm and nurse call systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school or technical school preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Related experience preferred.
• Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage Mantoux skin test.
• Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
