Job summary

State Technical College of Missouri's Facilities Department is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support repairs, preventive maintenance, and routine inspections on campus. This on-site role runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

with a pay rate of $15.50 per hour. You will assist skilled personnel across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, and custodial tasks, learning multiple maintenance disciplines while maintaining safe, organized work areas.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and practices in traditional trades.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled maintenance personnel with repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Receive hands-on training and develop skills in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, concrete repair, custodial work, welding.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform routine inspections of facilities and report maintenance concerns.
• Assist with moving materials, equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Follow work orders, maintenance schedules, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Comply with safety policies and regulations; respond to requests professionally.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

State Technical College of Missouri’s Facilities Department is looking to add a new highly motivated assistant to the team. This individual will assist in actively maintaining and improving campus facilities.

This position requires a high school diploma. This position requires work experience in the following areas:

• Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and practices used in traditional building and mechanical trades.
• Familiarity with common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to follow technical directions, verbal instructions, and written work orders.
• Ability to learn and apply skills across multiple maintenance disciplines.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of facilities and report maintenance concerns.
• Assist with moving materials, equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed.

• Follow work orders, maintenance schedules, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Respond to facility maintenance requests in a professional and timely manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
