Job summary

Embassy Healthcare in Mercer, PA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help keep our community safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents and staff.

You will assist with routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and outdoor upkeep, while following safety regulations. This full-time role offers a collaborative team environment and opportunities to contribute to resident comfort.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Repair plumbing, drywall, flooring, doors, windows, and fixtures as needed.
  • Complete preventative maintenance according to scheduled plans.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
  • Maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems under supervision.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is functioning properly.
  • Assist with setting up rooms and common areas for resident activities and special events.
  • Maintain outdoor areas including sidewalks, parking lots, landscaping, and seasonal snow and ice removal.
  • Monitor building security by ensuring doors, locks, and lighting are functioning properly.
  • Perform painting, furniture assembly, and minor carpentry projects.
  • Keep maintenance equipment and tools clean, organized, and in safe working condition.
  • Assist with emergency maintenance situations as needed.
  • Follow infection control, OSHA, fire safety, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders.
  • Work cooperatively with all departments to provide excellent service to residents.

Reports To: Executive Director/Maintenance Director

Shifts Hiring (Working Hours): Full-time

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for residents, visitors, and staff. This position assists with routine maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, grounds upkeep, and ensures the community remains in excellent condition while complying with all safety regulations.

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and reach for extended periods.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside normal business hours when required.
