BASIC FUNCTION

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist with coordinating day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department, including hands-on repair work, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. You will work under the direction of the facility administrator to ensure the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Director

Essential Job Functions:

• Make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
• Be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures in nursing facilities.
• Deal tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas; perform regular inspections for order, safety, and proper equipment performance.
• Show patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm; handle residents appropriately based on their current maturity level.
• Seek out and incorporate new methods and principles into maintenance practices.
• Relate information concerning residents’ conditions.
• Ensure no direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
• Assist the Maintenance Director in preparing staff for inspection surveys, including staff training on conduct and interview procedures.
• Participate in preparing the Plan of Correction response to inspection surveys.
• Promote customer service and hospitality.
• Follow safety rules and procedures to prevent injuries and illnesses.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Director or designee.
