Job summary

Renwick Nursing & Rehab is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to ensure the safety and comfort of residents by performing repairs, scheduling contractors, and monitoring facility systems. You will handle routine maintenance, light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and grounds upkeep in a respectful, resident-focused environment.

We value strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance.
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion, including lifting 50–100 lbs., and after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders assigned by Maintenance Director, including lighting, plumbing, painting, and carpentry tasks.
• Maintain and repair facility areas, equipment, and HVAC systems.
• Keep preventative maintenance records and utilize a work order system.
• Conduct daily inspections of building, grounds, and equipment.
• Identify and resolve safety hazards to protect residents and staff.

Maintenance Assistant Requirements:

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion, including standing, reaching, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs. and be available for after-hours emergencies

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will:

• Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Director, including changing light bulbs, AC filters, painting, plumbing, light carpentry, fixing sheetrock, and other maintenance duties
• Assist with maintenance of facility areas, including grounds, fences, parking areas, furniture, appliances, and HVAC systems
• Maintain and repair service equipment, power tools, and kitchen equipment
• Keep preventative maintenance records and utilize a work order tracking system
• Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment
• Identify and resolve potential safety hazards to protect residents, visitors, and staff
