Job summary

Saba Health Care is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Westmont, IL, to support residents by performing repairs, scheduling contractors, and monitoring facility systems. The role focuses on routine maintenance to ensure comfort and safety, with part-time hours 12p–8p, every other weekend and one weekday.

Responsibilities include completing work orders, maintaining areas and equipment, and keeping records with a tracking system. Benefits are included for eligible full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance.
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs and be available for after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Director, including changing light bulbs, AC filters, painting, plumbing, light carpentry, fixing sheetrock, and other maintenance duties.
• Assist with maintenance of facility areas, including grounds, fences, parking areas, furniture, appliances, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain and repair service equipment, power tools, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep preventative maintenance records and utilize a work order tracking system.
• Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment.
• Identify and resolve potential safety hazards to protect residents, visitors, and staff.

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they expect by performing repairs, scheduling contractors, monitoring facility systems, and conducting routine maintenance. Our residents will depend on your skills, knowledge, and attention to detail to ensure their comfort and safety.

Part Time, 12p-8p. Every other Weekend and one day during the week

Maintenance Assistant Requirements:

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion, including standing, reaching, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs. and be available for after-hours emergencies

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will:
