Job summary

Appledorn South is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help maintain the building, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe and clean living environment for residents and staff.

The role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and offers opportunities for advancement. Candidates should be able to perform routine maintenance, assist with painting and repairs, and work a first shift with on-site responsibilities in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English.
• Experience in maintenance preferred.
• Basic skills in painting, repairs, and equipment operations.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders promptly and in priority order (emergencies first).
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure building systems and equipment are fully operational.
• Communicate delays, needed parts, or issues to supervisor.
• Assist with painting, repairs, and general upkeep of apartments and common areas.
• Maintain exterior areas including sidewalks, parking lots, and flower beds.
• Assist with snow and ice removal to ensure safe walkways and exits.
• Maintain outdoor features (patio furniture, courtyards, fountains, etc.).
• Perform routine inspections of building and grounds and address concerns.
• Operate and maintain equipment (carpet cleaners, snow blowers, etc.).
• Report hazards, maintenance concerns, or unsafe conditions immediately.
• On-Call duties minimum of one weekend/month for Maintenance Supervisor.

Position Purpose

Supports the Maintenance Supervisor inmaintainingthe building, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of18years of age

• Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening andpre-employment drug screening for illegal substances

• Ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability tolift upto100pounds.

• Must be able to safely climb ladders and access elevated areas, including rooftops, to perform maintenance and inspection tasks.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend,andassistresidents in all aspects of job duties

• Handle emotional and physical demands of job duties
