Job description

The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current local, state, and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations. The role is to ensure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and active listening
  • Willing to work flexible hours
  • Experience in painting and drywall
  • Experience in electrical and plumbing work
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort, including lifting up to 65 pounds
  • Frequent walking or standing

Position Summary/Duties:

  • Assist with regular rounds of the facility to ensure quality control, safety, health, and welfare of patients, employees, families, and visitors. Report equipment failure or damage to the Administrator immediately.
  • Assist with checking air conditioning and heating units in roof and patient rooms, offices, and other areas.
  • Assist with inspecting pump stations, breaker panels, washers, and dryers.
  • Perform daily repairs as needed.
  • Assist with checking water and boiler temperatures, dietary cooking equipment, cooling systems, fire safety systems, and electrical outlets.
  • Inspect storage rooms, utility closets, and janitorial areas for upkeep, supplies, control, and safety.
  • Coordinate maintenance work with other departments to avoid disruptions.
  • Be available on call for emergencies.
  • Handle errands, freight, and move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain, repair, and care for institutional property, equipment, and grounds.
  • Regularly inspect property and equipment for safety compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience: Previous maintenance experience preferred.
