Job summary

Sandy Park Development Center in North Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help ensure the safety, cleanliness and functionality of the facility. The role includes performing routine maintenance and repairs as directed to support residents and staff.

The position requires on-call duties, basic grounds and facility upkeep, and preventative maintenance across systems, with coordination with the Environmental Services Manager to maintain a safe living environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Associates or vocational education preferred.
• 1 year of maintenance/repair experience preferred.
• Florida driver's license and ability to operate facility vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Follow maintenance schedule and on-call duties as required.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas and driveways.
• Repair facility and equipment (plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting).
• Keep work areas free of hazards and follow safety rules/regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, lighting, electrical appliances and vehicles.
• Maintain linen and chemical supplies when Resident Care Aides are not on grounds.
• Assist Environmental Services Manager to ensure cleanliness and safety; report malfunctions promptly.
• Conduct daily floor care: sweeping, mopping, waxing and carpet shampooing.
• Assist ESM with workshop area safety and tool storage.

Purpose:

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality and cleanliness of the facility, perform routine maintenance and repair as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Follow maintenance schedule/instructions as outlined to include on-call duties as required.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas and driveways as necessary.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting, etc.
• Keep work area free of hazardous conditions (i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc.) to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
• Perform preventative maintenance to include air conditioning, lighting fixtures, electrical appliances, vehicles and mechanical systems.
• Maintain linen and chemical supplies if Resident Care Aides are not on grounds.
• Assist Environmental Services Manager to ensure physical environment is maintained for cleanliness and safety. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns as soon as possible.
• Conduct daily floor care: sweeping, wet mopping, waxing, buffing and shampooing carpets as scheduled.
• Assist ESM in maintaining workshop area to include proper usage and storage of facility tools as well as adherence to safety guidelines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma/GED required.

Experience: Must be 21 years old or older.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associates or vocational education preferred.

Experience One (1) year of maintenance and general repair experience is preferred.

Hold a valid Florida driver's license and capable of operating facility vehicle and maintaining a safe driving record.
