Job summary

CLS Living in Essex, MD is seeking a Porter to keep our communities clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors. You will play a key role in daily upkeep, event support, and collaboration with the maintenance team.

The ideal candidate is bilingual (Spanish/English), has a high school diploma, and demonstrates excellent communication with a friendly demeanor. Some weekend and evening hours are required, with a focus on safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English; English proficiency required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook for updates.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move heavy objects; flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas, hallways, and entryways via sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting.
  • Power wash sidewalks, courtyard areas, and parking lots.
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, fitness centers, community rooms, and other amenities.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for events and resident activities.
  • Monitor and report maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Keep outdoor areas tidy and maintain landscaping appearance.
  • Assist with package delivery and distribution to residents as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to support their efforts.
  • Follow safety protocols and handle cleaning materials properly.

The Job At-A-Glance:

As a Porter at CLS Living, you play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and team members. Your attention to detail and dedication to property upkeep directly contribute to the overall satisfaction and positive experience within our community.

The position will include working weekends and weekdays, as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the cleanliness of common areas, hallways, and entryways through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
  • Power wash sidewalks, courtyard areas, and parking lots
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper waste disposal following company policies and local regulations
  • Clean and sanitize public spaces, including restrooms, fitness centers, community rooms, and other amenities
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for events, meetings, and resident activities
  • Monitor and report maintenance issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, or damages to appropriate personnel
  • Keep outdoor areas tidy by picking up litter and maintaining landscaping appearance
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs and fixing small repairs
  • Assist with package delivery and distribution to residents as needed
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to support their efforts
  • Maintain a positive, helpful attitude when interacting with residents and visitors
  • Follow safety protocols and properly handle and store cleaning materials
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor in building a motivated, skilled, organized, and productive team that represents the company professionally at all times

Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with proficiency in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook for consistent communication and updates
  • Ability to maintain regular communication with lead maintenance technician and Chief Building Engineer
  • Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, or related roles preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects or equipment
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Understanding of rotating weekend schedule for trash pickup and trash chute clearing
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a neat and organized work environment
