Job description

A Maintenance Assistant is needed at our new and exciting facility in Cleveland Tennessee.

Tennessee State Veterans’ Home is a long-term care and skilled nursing facility dedicated to caring for Tennessee veterans and their families. Consistently ranked in the top 3% for quality care according to CMS, Tennessee State Veterans’ Home has been a leader in Nursing Home care for over 25 years.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow maintenance and repair schedules for all areas of the facility and grounds.
  • Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Follow proper procedures for care, use, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Identify and report to supervisor any equipment malfunction.
  • Use maintenance equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform maintenance and repair procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Follow facility safety program.
  • Observe infection control procedures related to the maintenance department.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Complies with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards.
  • Assists families and other visitors as needed.
  • Attends/completes required in-services and other required meetings.
  • On-call rotation.

Qualification/Educational Requirements :

  • Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Should possess general carpentry skills.
  • Experience with technology based programs such as TELS, Fire Panel and communication software.
  • Experience with safety programs.
