Job summary

Abington Manor in Clarks Summit, PA is hiring a Maintenance Assistant for a full-time role. You will perform repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and related systems, receiving work orders and delivering timely results.

We value candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least two years in a health-related maintenance environment. A valid driver’s license and a pre-employment background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years experience in a maintenance department in a health-related facility.
• Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures in nursing care facilities.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic calculations for estimating and other tasks.
• Able to operate general office equipment.
• Must possess valid driver’s license.
• Must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical/drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Receive written work orders and verbal instructions and complete repairs.
• Diagnose and repair problems in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, and related systems.
• Promote safe work practices and comply with policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and building codes.
• Respond to residents' requests and resolve issues.
• May supervise other associates and outside contractors.
• Operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Abington Manor is currently hiring for a full time Maintenance Assistant! We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic candidates to join our exceptional team of caregivers!

Requirements of the Maintenance Assistant:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a maintenance department in a health-related Facility
• Must be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures in nursing care facilities
• Able to perform basic arithmetic skills such as measurement, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to do basic calculations such as estimating, etc.
• Able to occasionally operate general office equipment.
• Able to frequently use general maintenance tools, supplies and equipment such as, but not limited to, hand tools, pressure washers, blowers, paint equipment, ice removal equipment, ladders, landscaping equipment, sanders and safety equipment.
• Must possess valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Assistant:

• Receiving written work orders and verbal instructions and completes repairs.
• Diagnose and repair problems in such areas as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, masonry, painting/wallpaper, and waste management systems.
• Apply all applicable policies and procedures such as, but not limited to, company operating and safety standards. Promote safe work practices among on-site staff.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws, building codes and environmental laws and regulations.
• Respond to residents requests and work with residents to minimize/resolve problems and complaints. Follow-through to ensure issue is resolved.
• May supervise the work of other associates and outside contractors.
• Operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
