Job Summary
Performs semi-skilled maintenance work, including installation, alteration, and repair of kitchen and patient care equipment, medical gas systems, pipes, fittings, fixtures, and other systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. These systems are used within University Hospital and associated buildings. May perform duties of a Grade 6 assigned to the Plumbing Shop. Must follow all safety precautions.
Assist the GS12 Plumber/Steamfitter as needed, provide reports, complete paperwork, supervise lower grades, read blueprints, learn NYS Plumbing Codes, and maintain equipment. Demonstrate proper tool use and fire extinguisher operation. Trace and identify pipes for various systems, interact with customers, and relay information effectively.
Requirements include being free from facial hair that interferes with mask fit, performing moderate to heavy lifting, and working at heights using ladders, scaffolds, or platforms. Ability to wear a respirator is essential.
Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver's License.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of maintenance or mechanical work experience under a skilled tradesman or completion of a two-year technical school course.
Preferred Qualifications
Work schedule based on a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
