Job summary

East River Nursing and Rehab in Anderson, SC is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in keeping our facility safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors. The role involves routine repairs, painting, HVAC and fire-safety system maintenance, and general grounds work.

Prior healthcare knowledge is preferred; we value reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently while following direction and feedback.
• Knowledge of basic repairs and general facility maintenance.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new maintenance procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to maintenance and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, sanitation, and organization.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting or with the elderly is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist and take direction from the Maintenance Director in daily operations.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on handrails, windows, walls, ceilings, flooring, and other facility components.
• Paint walls and ceilings as needed.
• Assist with maintenance of HVAC systems, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems.
• Performs general landscaping, yard work including mowing, cleanup, and other types of general yard work.
• Maintain the building and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
• Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Maintenance Director, as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and families, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Maintenance Assistant

This role supports the Maintenance Director in ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors

Assist and take direction from the Maintenance Director in daily operations
