Job summary

Dahlia Gardens Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Aberdeen, NC is seeking a dependable Part-Time Maintenance Assistant to help keep the facility safe, comfortable, and well maintained for residents, families, visitors, and staff.

You will work alongside the Maintenance Director performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general upkeep. This role supports a welcoming environment and resident care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, or general repair experience preferred.
• Comfortable using basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Professional and respectful approach when around residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance throughout the facility.
• Complete work orders and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
• Replace light bulbs, repair fixtures, and address general building maintenance needs.
• Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment and report safety or maintenance concerns.
• Assist with lawn care, landscaping, seasonal cleanup, and general groundskeeping.
• Operate maintenance and landscaping equipment safely.
• Assist with emergency generator testing and routine facility inspections.
• Support fire safety activities, inspections, drills, and other emergency preparedness efforts.
• Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas and equipment.
• Assist with coordinating and monitoring outside contractors when needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and required documentation.
• Respond to urgent maintenance issues and facility emergencies as needed.
• Work closely with other departments to complete maintenance projects while minimizing disruption to resident care.

What You'll Do
