WeDriveU is seeking a Technical Apprentice in Chicago to join our fleet maintenance team. You will work with experienced technicians, assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs, applying classroom learning to real-world tasks on commercial vehicles.
Ideal candidates are students in automotive or diesel programs who want hands-on experience, safety-focused, reliable, and eager to learn as responsibilities grow under supervision.
The Technical Apprentice is an entry-level position designed for students currently enrolled in an automotive, diesel, or transportation maintenance program who are interested in gaining hands‑on experience in a professional fleet maintenance environment. Working alongside experienced WeDriveU maintenance technicians, the Technical Apprentice will assist with preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, basic repairs, shop organization, and other maintenance activities. This role provides the opportunity to apply classroom learning, develop technical skills, and gain experience maintaining commercial vehicles. The Technical Apprentice will perform work under the direction and supervision of qualified maintenance team members. The level of responsibility will increase as the apprentice demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and ability to safely complete assigned work.

The schedule may be coordinated around the apprentice’s school schedule and the operational needs of the maintenance department. Some early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday availability may be required.

Apprentices who successfully complete the program and demonstrate the required technical skills, safety awareness, reliability, and job performance may be considered for future entry‑level technician opportunities at WeDriveU.
