WinnCompanies offers a 12-month Maintenance Apprenticeship designed to train residents for careers in building maintenance and facilities management. The program combines hands-on work with formal instruction to develop core trades and professional skills.

Participants complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and 150 hours of technical instruction at The Peterson School in Worcester, MA, earning nationally recognized credentials such as CPR/AED, OSHA 10, and CAMT.

Qualifications

• Interest in pursuing a career in maintenance.
• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Basic familiarity with computers, tablets, and web apps.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak and understand basic English.
• Ability to take initiative and be proactive.
• Willingness to travel to regional properties; mileage reimbursed.
• Ability to meet emergency on-call demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs in areas such as appliances, carpentry, hardware; masonry, painting, basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Complete assigned service requests following company procedures.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market-ready status.
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal, including snow removal and trash management.
• Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies as scheduled.
