Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. You will work under the Site Supervisor or Chief Engineer and gain hands‑on experience in machinery, electrical, plumbing, and grounds maintenance while learning safety practices.

You must pass a prescreen check, hold a valid Hawaii driver’s license, and have access to a reliable vehicle. Prior hands‑on maintenance is a plus but not required; strong communication and teamwork skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Hawaii driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Must pass HBM prescreen check.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Customer service‑oriented mindset.
• Willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, which may include: Basic plumbing, electrical work, mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, painting, drywall, and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to access tight spaces.
• Capable of working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are functioning correctly and conduct repairs as necessary.
• Deliver outstanding customer service when interacting with property managers, vendors, and clients.
• Engage in continuous movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout the shift.
• Lift, push, and pull weights between 50 to 75 pounds.
• Create and maintain work orders and purchase orders.
• Complete any additional maintenance‑related tasks assigned by the HBM supervisor or property management.
