Job Description

POSITION: Maintenance /Janitorial

RESPONSIBLE TO: The Maintenance Manager

MAIN FUNCTION: Perform general maintenance, repairs and cleaning of agency property.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

• Perform minor plumbing repairs.
• Perform general cleaning including but not limited to sweeping, emptying trash, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors. Cleaning of high touch surfaces.
• Perform repairs and refinishing of furniture.
• Be aware of Head Start Performance Standards and DPW Regulations as they relate to physical plant issues
• Perform duties to bring buildings and playgrounds into compliance with local codes,
• DPW Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.

REGULATIONS and HEAD START PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

• Assist with lawn care, snow removal and sidewalk treatment.
• Be responsible for the care and storage of agency tools.
• Perform simple carpentry tasks.
• Perform minor repairs to all areas of the buildings.
• Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
• Complete tasks from work request forms and return forms to supervisor.
• Maintain appropriate paperwork such as monthly maintenance records for HVAC equipment.
• Support the program-wide adoption of the teaching pyramid model to promote the development of young children\'s social-emotional competence and address challenging behavior.
• Create and maintain a positive organizational culture by demonstrating the program-wide behavioral expectations in their social interactions with children, families, community members and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Related experience preferred.
• On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Driving to various sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver\'s License.
• Must obtain all required clearances.
