Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Maintenance and Reliability Technician will perform technical maintenance and repairs on swine facility equipment and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical systems, mechanical systems, and general facility maintenance. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively within a team to ensure smooth swine production processes. The candidate will also suggest process improvements based on data-supported decision making.

Major Areas of Accountability:
Technical Repairs and Maintenance:
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and perform repairs on electrical and mechanical systems within swine facilities, including automated feeding systems, climate control systems, and waste management equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal functioning of all equipment and machinery, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve issues promptly, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Infrastructure Maintenance:
  • Perform structural repairs and maintenance on facility buildings, including general carpentry, plumbing, and welding tasks.
  • Maintain infrastructure to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
Equipment Management:
  • Maintain farm vehicles, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring timely procurement and availability.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance activities with production staff and other maintenance personnel to minimize disruption.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior maintenance staff as needed.
Compliance and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to all biosecurity protocols to support the health and welfare of the swine population.
