Job summary

Besser Company in Sioux City, Iowa, is seeking a Major Maintenance role to maintain and repair all mechanical equipment and buildings on site. Responsibilities include troubleshooting via hydraulic and electric schematics, welding with stick and MIG, brazing and torch work, and operating snow removal equipment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least two years of shop experience, with a strong emphasis on safety and the ability to work in elevated areas and around energized

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years shop experience.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of blueprints, drawings and models.
• Knowledge of mathematics.
• Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and carry objects.
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs.
• Using hands and arms in handling, installing, forming, positioning, and moving materials or in manipulating things such as hand tools and hoist.
• Must work in a safe manner and maintain a safe work record.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand hydraulic and electric schematics for troubleshooting equipment.
• Enter time into the business computer system.
• Work in high places from ladders, platforms and man lifts.
• Understand proper procedures for working on energized electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Weld proficiently with stick and MIG; braze and cut with a torch.
• Operate all snow removal equipment.
• Occasionally perform duties outside of regular shift hours.
• Use proper PPE at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
