Job summary

Laminate Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance of production machinery, facilities, and grounds to ensure continuous operation and adherence to quality standards.

You will diagnose, repair, and replace faulty components across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including CNC centers, with attention to safety and documentation. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years PLC experience, and 5+ years in a maintenance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
  • 1–2 years PLC programming experience is required.
  • Experience repairing pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience repairing motors and pumps.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Start machines and monitor operation for efficiency and issues.
  • Read work orders and determine repair needs.
  • Inspect parts and report repair needs to supervisors.
  • Repair CNC machining centers and other shop equipment.
  • Maintain grounds and keep a safe, clean work area.
  • Keep records of service and maintenance activities.
  • Respond to after-hours incidents as needed.

Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overall maintenance production machinery, buildings, and grounds ensuring continuous operation of systems to ensure we are able to meet quality standards for both Laminate Technologies and our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery to prevent breakdowns.

2. Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.

3. Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

4. Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.

5. Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.

6. Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.

7. Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.

8. Repair CNC Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers, Lathes and various other Machine Shop Equipment.

9. Experience in PLC and/or CNC machine repair procedures

10. ACDC Voltage (120-480 voltage) Experience

11. Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.

12. Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment: Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester.

13. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.

14. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.

15. Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance technicians to diagnose malfunctions.

16. Replace faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools.

17. Responsible for the grounds housekeeping and maintenance operations that keeps company buildings in good repair.

18. Keep a record of all service, maintenance, and refurbishing work carried out on the machinery and building.

19. Ensure the proper working of all Electrical units and systems in the facility.

20. Complying with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Rules (OSHA) while caring out maintenance functions.

21. Maintain and clean and safe work area.

22. Ability to answer phone as needed during non-working hours and to report to work after normal duty hours to fix malfunctioning machinery or facility issues affecting production capability

23. Ability to work overtime as needed

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time, have a valid driver license, and be insurable.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates Industrial Maintenance or Journeyman status preferred
  • Programmable logic controllers: 1 to 2 years (Required)
  • Experience repairing pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Experience repairing motors and pumps
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Electrical (24V-480V, AC, Single and 3 phase power, DC Voltage, control systems, motor controls)
  • Ability to make decisions and solve complex problems on a wide variety of equipment
  • Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings
  • 5+ years in a maintenance role
Complexity of Duties

Skilled duties that follow definite procedures as well as undefined procedures. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skill and able to manage time. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and schematics. Employee works as instructed and consults with supervisor and/or team leader as needed on all matters not specifically covered in instructions or guidelines.

Mathematical Skills

Must have above average mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.

Work Environment

The work environment involves some risk requiring special safety precautions (i.e. working around moving parts or machines, and utilization of pallet jacks/tools in material handling). The work environment requires safe work practices and adherence to safety regulations.

Physical Demands

The work requires physical exertion such as prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, recurring bending, reaching and recurring lifting of objects up to 50-75 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Fingering, grasping and feeling. Talking, hearing and repetitive motion. Very heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and of constant moving objects. Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, safe operation, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Subject to noise. Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and climbing. Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or the skin such as fumes and vapors.
