Job summary

Cirrus seeks a Senior Maintainability Engineer to ensure aircraft systems, structures, and components are designed for maintainability and cost‑effective serviceability throughout the lifecycle. The role collaborates with design, reliability, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to embed maintainability requirements early and validate maintenance procedures before service entry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering (advanced degree preferred).
  • 4–7 years in aircraft reliability/maintainability engineering or equivalent A&P mechanic experience.
  • Strong background in aircraft systems, maintenance, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with FMEA/FMECA, FRACAS, MSG‑3, RCM, ZSA.
  • Experience supporting CFR (FAR) Part 135 operations.
  • Experience with data analysis, root cause analysis, reliability testing, and continuous improvement.

  • Leads maintainability integration for major systems or subsystems.
  • Anticipates long‑term maintenance impacts and drives early design modifications.
  • Performs trade studies and influences configuration decisions with engineering leadership.
  • Leads MSG 3 analyses for complex systems.
  • Optimizes maintenance intervals and aligns with reliability data.
  • Partners with customer support to finalize task logic for maintenance planning documents.
  • Develops detailed maintainability models and advanced analyses.
  • Interprets results to influence design optimization.
  • Correlates forecasted maintenance burden with operational data.
  • Leads integrated maintenance demo events across systems.
  • Interfaces with test, manufacturing, and prototype build teams to resolve issues.
  • Drives corrective action implementation.
  • Leads cross‑functional issue resolution for maintainability topics.
  • Ensures maintenance procedures are user‑friendly and aligned with operator needs.
  • Leads maintainability certification work packages.
  • Interfaces with DERs/DARs and prepares significant sections of certification documents.
  • Travel of 25% may be required.

Overview

The Maintainability Engineer Senior plays a critical role in ensuring that aircraft systems, structures, and components are designed for efficient, safe, and cost‑effective maintenance throughout the lifecycle of the aircraft. This position collaborates closely with design engineering, customer support, reliability, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to embed maintainability requirements early in development and validate maintenance procedures before entry into service.   • Familiarity with FMEA/FMECA, FRACAS, MSG‑3, RCM, ZSA.
  • Experience supporting CFR (FAR) Part 135 operations.
  • Experience with data analysis, root cause analysis, reliability testing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and lead teams through change.

Pay Range

Salary Range: USD $100,513.49 per year – USD $150,770.23 per year.
