Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer III to join our team in a production support capacity.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: mainframe networking, performance and capacity planning/reporting, or BMC MainView installation and customization.

This role involves working in a dynamic and complex environment, supporting z/OS systems in a Parallel Sysplex setup, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced z/OS installation, customization, and maintenance.
• Manage and optimize mainframe networking configurations and hardware.
• Lead performance and capacity planning using tools such as zPCA, SAS/MXG, or Intellimagic.
• Install, maintain, and customize BMC MainView and other ISV products.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a team rotation.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of procedures and practices.
• Implement change control processes in a regulated environment.
• Deliver pre- and post-implementation impact assessments for zSeries hardware/software changes.
• Identify and resolve recurring issues to reduce mean time to recovery.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to programmers, analysts, and support associates.
• Collaborate with application teams to ensure accurate problem resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in z/OS engineering.
• Advanced expertise in SMP/E.
• Strong debugging and tuning skills.
• Experience with storage management and Coupling Facility updates.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MainView installation and customization.
• Performance management with WLM.
• zOSMF product installation and deployment.
• Experience with ChangeMan administration.
• Knowledge of banking industry business processes.
