Job summary

StratG Inc. is seeking a Mainframe Technical Specialist - Cobol in Long Beach with remote work allowed. Preference for candidates in Pacific or Mountain Time zones due to batch processing in the evening.

The role demands strong COBOL, JCL, IMS, SQL, and mainframe expertise along with scripting in Python and PowerShell. Experience with Autosys, LRS VPSX/PCX, Active Directory security, and cloud technologies is a plus.

Qualifications

• Good experience in IBM Mainframe (z/OS) and Micro Focus Enterprise Server/Developer areas.
• Strong knowledge in COBOL, JCL, IMS, SQL, File Systems.
• Maintaining and documenting applications in COBOL.
• Experience with support and system administration activities.
• Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
• Nice to have experience in Autosys, LRS VPSX/PCX, Active Directory security.
• Able to learn new areas quickly.
• Python and PowerShell experience is important.
• Experience in .NET is preferred.
• Cloud technologies experience preferred.
• Pacific or Mountain time preference for batch runs.
• On-call support flexibility and timely customer responses.
• Good analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide mainframe support and development in COBOL, JCL, IMS, and SQL.
• Maintain and document COBOL applications and batch processes.
• Assist with system administration tasks and on-call support.
• Communicate effectively with clients and manage expectations.
• Work with Autosys, LRS VPSX/PCX, and AD security as needed.
• Learn new areas quickly and adapt to changing requirements.
