Job summary

IBM is seeking a Mainframe System Verification Tester Apprentice in the United States. You will join IBM Z Engineering System Test to help validate and qualify mainframe hardware, processors and storage components.

The role offers hands-on training with state-of-the-art test tools in a lab environment and collaboration with experienced engineers and technicians. During the apprenticeship you will learn to design and execute test plans, analyze electrical performance, and practice safety

Qualifications

• Willingness to complete apprenticeship requirements.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic familiarity with soldering and de-soldering.
• Electrical safety basics.
• Knowledge of electronics concepts (electronic theory, AC Basics).
• Experience with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and executing test or characterization plans for IBM processors and related hardware.
• Work closely with engineers to interpret and consolidate test data.
• Learn principles of system analysis, defect identification and repair basics.
• Follow lab safety procedures during physical preparation of samples for testing.
