Job Details

Title: Mainframe MQ Systems Engineer/MQ Administration

Location: New York/New Jersey, Pittsburgh, or Lake Mary, FL (Remote for 6 Months)

Pay Rate: $80-$85/hr. on W2 Only

Note: W-2 candidates only—preferably within NY, FL, PA, and NJ.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with application teams to determine the best MQ implementation.
• Provision MQ infrastructure on mainframe z/OS and distributed platforms.
• Configure and support queue sharing groups, clusters, channel authentications, certificates, etc.
• Support capacity planning, IPL, and DR events considering mainframe dependencies.
• Assist with MQ alerts and incidents.
• Basic understanding of MQ usage on mainframe and some mainframe application programming in COBOL is preferred.
• Contribute to change management and disaster recovery events.
• Demonstrate ownership and accountability in tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of infrastructure experience, especially in MQ administration in z/OS environment.
• Experience in securities or financial services industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, clusters, channel authentication, TLS certificates, and stream queues.
• Some MQ application programming experience (C, COBOL, Java).
• Understanding of MQ DR events, upgrade processes, security exits, and change management.
• Ability to multitask and work under time pressure.

Understanding CICS logs for troubleshooting is expected.
