Job summary

Resolution Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Mainframe Solution Architect to translate business requirements into scalable IBM Mainframe solutions, including cross-platform integrations. You will work with Application Architects and MF development teams to implement solutions and drive them into production.

The role requires deep COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL on z/OS expertise and knowledge of design patterns. You will guide modernization efforts toward Kubernetes, DataBricks, and related cloud

Qualifications

• 15+ years of proven experience driving solutions for large complex Mainframe applications.
• Expert in multi-layered application stacks.
• Proficient in Networking and Security.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong diagrammatical skills and leadership.
• Understanding of Enterprise Design Patterns and application timing.
• Experience with IBM Mainframe and zOS.
• Knowledge of zOSMF is a plus.
• Experience with Image Copy / reorg/ load /unload utilities desirable.
• Direct experience with RACF and its protection of DB2 resources and CICS transactions.
• Experience with SERVAUTH is a must.
• Scalability and concurrent processing expertise.
• Experience with large development teams and other Architects.
• Extensive COBOL, CICS, DB2 experience; SQL, indexes, explain plans.
• Expert in navigating IBM Mainframe, COBOL/Assembler/JCL development.
• ZOS Connect is highly valuable.
• Python or Java skills are a plus.
• NoSQL databases like MongoDB and cloud solutions like DataBricks desirable.

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions for IBM Mainframe applications and integrations.
• Collaborate with Application Architects and MF development teams to implement solutions and deliver to production.
• Communicate Architecture and Enterprise standards and ensure adherence in MF applications and integrations.
• Provide technical leadership across teams and guide MF workloads toward Kubernetes and modernization efforts.

Mainframe Solution Architect About this Position

Mainframe Solution Architect as a member of the Enterprise Architecture Team with principle focus on IBM Mainframe Applications and Solutions

Mainframe Solution Architect Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Mainframe Solution Architect is responsible for translating business requirements into technical solutions for complex applications that are implemented on IBM Mainframe, but also including integrations with other platforms. They work directly with Application Architects and MF development teams to implement those solutions and assist in delivering them into production. They are responsible for communicating Architecture and Enterprise standards and best-practices and ensuring they are reflected in the MF applications and integrations. The Architect is proficient in the COBOL programing language, DB2 SQL and zOS. They have an understanding of basic Enterprise Design Patterns and how to apply them. They provide technical leadership across teams and play a key role in transitioning MF workloads to other platforms such as Kubernetes, and as part of a larger Digital Transformation and Modernization effort.

Mainframe Solution Architect Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have 15+ years of proven experience driving solutions for large complex Mainframe applications.
• Must be an expert in Multi-Layered application stacks.
• Must be proficient in Networking and Security.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess excellent diagrammatical skills. Must be able to lead by example.
• Working understanding of Enterprise Design Patterns and when to apply them
• Requires excellent experience with IBM MainFrame and zOS.
• Knowledge of zOSMF is a plus.
• Experience with Image Copy / reorg/ load /unload utilities is desirable.
• Must have direct Experience with RACF, and how it protects DB2 resources, CICS transactions.
• Experience with SERVAUTH is a must.

• Working understanding of zOS connect is highly valuable.
• Having skills with Python or Java is a plus.
• Working knowledge of modern NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, and cloud solutions such as DataBricks desirable.
