Mainframe Software Technical Support Engineer

Job Description: Provide technical support for Broadcom Mainframe Software products to ensure our customers can use our products efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional attitude and utilize technical expertise to resolve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Act as a first-level interface with customers for problems/questions related to Broadcom Software.
  • Request documentation for review and analysis to determine and resolve problems.
  • Utilize available resources to review and analyze customer documentation.
  • Upload logs, dumps, and other documentation to the mainframe for review.
  • Recreate errors on available mini systems when appropriate.
  • Engage Sustaining Engineering (SE) for further analysis if needed.
  • Obtain advice on existing fixes and allow SE to create resolutions.
  • Handle multiple cases efficiently with clear communication.
  • Follow guidelines for case hygiene and provide timely updates.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuous coverage.
  • Upload documentation and maintenance to cases for colleagues when necessary.
  • Expand product knowledge through learning and self-study.
  • Keep abreast of technical and environmental changes.
  • Write, revise, or archive knowledge documents as needed.
  • Support and mentor less-experienced team members.

Experience: Bachelor's degree + 5+ years of related experience.

Mainframe Skills Desired:
  • Proficiency in z/OS environment, Session Manager, VTAM, CICS, TCP/IP, and related tools.
  • Knowledge of Mainframe Architecture, Assembler, JCL, and utilities.
Nice to Have/Bonus Skills:
  • Experience with Broadcom Mainframe Products, automation tools, DB2, security concepts, and related technologies.
Support Experience:
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer support skills.
Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, with relevant certifications preferred.

Work Experience:

5+ years in Mainframe support or systems environment. Must have legal right to work in the US.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $73,100 - $117,000. Includes bonus, stock options, and comprehensive benefits.
