Location: 100% remote (must work EST hours)

Job Summary: We’re seeking a Mainframe Developer for our banking client modernizing its environment involving TSYS credit card processing. This role is ideal for someone who’s not only deeply technical and code-centric but also has worked with TSYS and understands the platform well enough to come in and hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leverage TSYS expertise to drive knowledge-sharing and accelerate modernization deliverables
• Partner closely with business analysts to understand complex business functions and convert them into actionable technical solutions
• Create design solutions end-to-end, taking full ownership from conception through hands-on implementation
• Dive deep into legacy systems, identify performance and design improvements, and implement scalable solutions
• Author clear, detailed technical and functional specifications and maintain updated system documentation
• Support modernization efforts with tools like GitLab, SonarQube, automated testing frameworks, Ansible, and others

Required Skills:

• Strong Mainframe experience: COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, MQ, CA7
• Experience with TSYS credit card processing systems
• Proven track record in solution design architecture — including design, hands-on development, and performance optimization
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; capable of distilling complex processes into streamlined solutions
• Comfortable working in both high-level architecture and detailed code analysis

Nice-to-Have:

• Exposure to modern IBM zSystems development tools: IDz, zDIH, ADDI, DBB, z/OS Connect
• Familiarity with DevOps toolchains: GitLab, Sonar products, automated testing tools, Ansible, etc.
