The role focuses on COBOL-based development, batch processing optimization, and production issue troubleshooting across mission-critical systems. The candidate will work with IBM mainframe technologies (COBOL, CICS, DB2, MQ, JCL) and participate in development, testing, and deployment of system enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mainframe applications supporting loan and lease servicing systems.
• Provide production support, including troubleshooting online and batch abends.
• Participate in development, testing, and deployment of system enhancements.
• Work with IBM mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, DB2, MQ, and JCL.
• Evaluate and optimize batch processing to improve performance and reduce processing windows.
• Support both online transaction processing and batch environments.
• Perform impact analysis across multiple systems and platforms.
• Research and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Support root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Create and maintain documentation for estimates, design, and development.
• Follow established testing practices including unit testing and validation.
• Provide off-hours support for production batch processes as needed.

Pay Range: $59.00 – $66.00 per hour (based on experience and internal equity)

Schedule: Full-time, contract; long-term opportunity

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mainframe Developer to support application development and production support for large-scale loan and lease servicing systems within an enterprise automotive finance environment.

This role focuses on COBOL-based development, batch processing optimization, and troubleshooting production issues across mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Support

Develop and maintain mainframe applications supporting loan and lease servicing systems

Provide production support, including troubleshooting online and batch abends

Participate in development, testing, and deployment of system enhancements

Mainframe Technologies & Processing

Work with IBM mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, DB2, MQ, and JCL

Evaluate and optimize batch processing to improve performance and reduce processing windows

Required Qualifications

Strong experience with IBM mainframe technologies (COBOL, CICS, DB2, MQ, JCL)

Experience supporting and troubleshooting batch and online systems

Experience performing impact analysis across multiple applications

Experience with production support and issue resolution

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, enterprise environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in automotive finance or financial services industry

Experience with loan and lease servicing systems

Familiarity with FIS / Systematics platforms

Knowledge of financial processes (payments, collections, delinquency, repossession, etc.)

Experience with unit testing practices and deliverables

3+ years of Big 4 consulting experience

Stable work history within large enterprise organizations
