Job Title: Mainframe Developer

Job Duration: Contract role

Job Location: Remote - Des Moines, IA.

Job Description:

COBOL:

Mainframe platforms (e.g., IBM Z/OS, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO, VSAM)

Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, process optimization, and risk analysis. Ability to review existing code for functionality and make recommendations in alignment to modern solutions.

A modernization mindset, with the ability to assess legacy systems and design forward-looking solutions.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex system issues.

Ability to influence technical and strategic decisions with solid rationale, drawing on technical expertise and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

Exposure or familiarity with Github, Insomnia (please do not let tools like this listed detract from the fact we need hard mainframe skills, not distributed engineering skills).

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps methodologies.

Background in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
