Job summary

Kyndryl Inc. is seeking an experienced z/OS DB2 DBA to manage and modernize its DB2 databases. You will configure, install, and maintain DB2 on the z/OS platform, ensure data security, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align database plans with business goals.

You'll be the architect of the system, shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long‑term success of our business operations.

What you will do
  • Maintain and Protect: Optimize systems: Your expertise will be crucial in configuring, installing and maintaining database management systems, ensuring that our systems are always running at peak performance.
  • Set security protocols: You'll be responsible for managing user access and implementing policies and procedures to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access and external threats.
  • Strategize to Scale: Plan ahead: You will conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet our business needs.
  • Make progress: You'll be a strategic partner, working closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with our organizational goals.
  • Generate ideas: You'll have the opportunity to propose and implement enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system, enabling us to deliver world‑class services to our customers.
  • Recover and Resolve: Be ready to recover: Develop strong backup and recovery plans to ensure that our system is always protected in the event of a failure.
  • Support solutions: Use your technical acumen to support end users and application developers in solving complex problems related to our database systems.
Responsibilities

z/OS DB2 V12 and V13 Database Administrator (DBA). Responsibilities include all aspects of DB2 DBA on the z/OS platform. Must have an understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL), DB2 performance tuning, Database Definition Language (DDL) and all DB2 utilities. Ability to follow existing processes for Change, Incident, Problem, Availability, Service Level and Capacity Management. Must have working knowledge of DB2 database Backup/Recovery. Review Logical design and provide recommendations. Transform the Logical design model into a Physical design. Design and prepare application database changes (add new or change existing structure). Willingness to provide rotational 24 x 7 On Call support for production environment required.

  • Incident and Problem resolution based on customer Service Level requirements.
  • Execute DB Utilities (Reorg, Runstats, Copy, Load, Unload, Modify, Check, Recover, Rebuild)
  • Execute DB2 Commands (Stop, Start, Display, Cancel, etc)
  • Resolve problems, document solutions, and implement changes
  • DB2 Security (RACF, Grants, Revokes, Roles, Privileges)
Required
  • At least 3 years experience with DB2 V12 and DB2 V13
  • At least 3 years experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 Utilities
  • At least 3 years experience with executing DDL
  • At least 3 years experience in Capacity / Performance management
  • At least 3 years experience with DB2 Backup / Recovery
  • At least 3 years experience in Apply Problem Solving Techniques
  • At least 3 years experience in database monitoring
  • At least 3 years experience in database maintenance and administration
  • English: Fluent
Eligibility

Compensation

The base compensation range for the position in the U.S. is - $100,080 to $190,080 based on a full‑time schedule reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation

There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations: California (San Francisco Bay Area): $120,120 to $228,000 California (All Other): $110,040 to $209,040 Colorado: $100,080 to $190,080 Massachusetts/ Virginia: $100,080 to $209,040 New York City: $120,120 to $228,000 Washington: $110,040 to $209,040 Washington DC: $110,040 to $209,040

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans.
