Job summary

HCLTech is seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation / AI System Administrator to lead automation and observability modernization of enterprise mainframe systems. You will maintain a highly automated, self-healing mainframe ecosystem with advanced automation, AIOps, monitoring tools, and ITSM integrations.

The role requires deep expertise in mainframe automation, event correlation, monitoring platforms, and a drive for automation-led ops excellence across z/OS, CICS, MQ, Db2, and related teams.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Mainframe Systems Programming, Automation, or Monitoring Administration.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with MainView, SysView, CA OPS/MVS, and/or IBM System Automation.
  • Proven experience integrating mainframe environments with Splunk, Dynatrace, Instana, and ServiceNow.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain mainframe automation and monitoring products (MainView, SysView, CA OPS/MVS, NetView).
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation policies, event correlation logic, and self-healing workflows.
  • Integrate mainframe data with Splunk or Dynatrace and establish ServiceNow integrations for automated incident management.
  • Collaborate with z/OS, CICS, MQ, Db2, IMS, Storage, and other teams to expand automation coverage.
  • Build PoCs on sandbox LPARs to evaluate new automation, observability, and AI-driven operations technologies.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation / AI System Administrator to lead the design, administration, and modernization of enterprise mainframe automation and observability platforms. This role will be responsible for maintaining a highly automated, self-healing mainframe ecosystem through advanced automation frameworks, AIOps capabilities, monitoring solutions, and integration with enterprise observability and ITSM platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in mainframe automation technologies, event correlation, monitoring solutions, and modern observability tools, along with a passion for driving automation-led operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain mainframe automation and monitoring products including:
  • BMC MainView (AMI Ops)
  • SysView
  • Broadcom CA OPS/MVS
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation policies, event correlation logic, automation tables, and self-healing workflows.
  • Configure and support message automation frameworks including:
  • MPF (Message Processing Facility)
  • AOF (Automated Operations Facility)
  • Integrate mainframe operational data with enterprise observability platforms such as:
  • Splunk
  • Dynatrace
  • Establish and maintain ServiceNow integrations for automated incident management, event correlation, and workflow orchestration.
  • Optimize alerting thresholds and automation rules to minimize operational noise and improve MTTR and MTTD.
  • Collaborate with z/OS, CICS, MQ, Db2, IMS, Storage, Security, Production Control, Capacity Management, and Infrastructure teams to expand automation coverage across the enterprise.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing, operational audits, and platform health assessments.
  • Build Proof of Concepts (POCs) on sandbox LPARs to evaluate emerging automation, observability, and AI-driven operations technologies.
  • Create technical documentation, implementation guides, operational runbooks, and best-practice frameworks.
