Job summary

AAA Auto Club Enterprises seeks a Mainframe Developer to maintain and upgrade the insurance application while modernizing toward a cloud-ready future. You’ll contribute to transforming our insurance product line and participate in architecture discussions with cross-functional teams.

You will support production environments on a rotating day/night schedule, applying COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS and related tools in a dynamic, Agile setting. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Experience with COBOL programming in a Z/OS Mainframe environment.
• Ability to analyze programs and understand current state of applications.
• Experience with COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, ISPW and other mainframe development skills.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment (3 days in office, 2 days at home, quarterly schedule).

Responsibilities

Job Description

As our Mainframe Developer, you will be an important member of our insurance product team, responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and supporting the organization’s insurance business. The team has exciting years ahead of them as we transform our insurance application to a cloud-based application and modernize the technology across the board.

What You’ll Do

• You will be making system updates to the Mainframe Insurance application. You may be required to assist with the conversion of Insurance business from Mainframe platform to Guidewire P&C Insurance application.


• You will be needed to help refine system change requirements, attend design sessions, present ideas to groups of people with diverse roles and skill levels, and exchange ideas with your team members.


• You are required to provide application production environment support on a rotational schedule during the day and night.

What You’ll Need

• To excel in this role, you should have experience with COBOL programming in a Z/OS Mainframe environment.


• Ability to analyze programs and understand the current state of the applications.


• Bring your experience with COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, ISPW and other mainframe application development skills. Our team is interested in your experience and eager to learn from you.


• You may be able to work in a hybrid work environment of three days in the office, two days at home. The days are scheduled in advance and change every quarter.

What We Prefer

• You have worked previously with an Agile team or understand these concepts. You’re expected to participate in daily standup meetings, you’ll complete your projects or stories during sprints, and you’re ready to meet frequent deployment deadlines.


• Proficient in most tools used with the mainframe application development such as Sycnsort, Xpediter, SAR, FileAid, and Abend-Aid.


• Prior experience in Insurance/Property-Casualty domain-related domains.


• Willingness and desire to learn new skills.
