Qualifications

• 4+ years in Mainframe Application Support with focus on Natural/Adabas.
• IBM z/OS environments; strong knowledge of JCL/TSO/ISPF/SDSF.
• Good understanding of CICS, VSAM, batch processing, and production support.
• Experience in 24x7 production incidents, problem, and change management.
• Hands-on with scheduling/monitoring tools: CA-7, Control-M, OPC/TWS.
• Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management across global teams.

The Role

Your Role

As a Mainframe Application Support Engineer at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a Mainframe Application Support Engineer at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

• Provide L2/L3 production support for mainframe applications built on Natural and Adabas, ensuring high availability and operational stability.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve production issues within agreed SLA timelines.
• Perform root cause analysis of application failures and implement preventive solutions to minimize recurring issues.
• Support batch processing, online transactions, job scheduling, and production release activities across environments.
• Collaborate with business users, development teams, and infrastructure teams to drive timely issue resolution and service improvements.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 4+ Years of experience in Mainframe Application Support with a focus on Natural and Adabas technologies.
• Proven experience working in IBM z/OS environments with solid knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and mainframe utilities.
• Good understanding of CICS, VSAM, batch processing, job scheduling, and production support operations.
• Experience supporting mission-critical applications in a 24x7 production environment, including incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Hands-on experience with scheduling and monitoring tools such as CA-7, Control-M, OPC/TWS, or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and data correction skills for Natural/Adabas applications.
• Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools for incident and service request management.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across global teams.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Familiarity with application deployment, release management, and environment migration activities.
• Knowledge of Adabas performance monitoring, database support fundamentals, and application optimization techniques.
• Exposure to ITIL-based service management practices and continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Experience participating in on-call production support, major incident management, and disaster recovery exercises.
• Understanding of automation, operational efficiency, and proactive monitoring practices within mainframe environments.
