Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital, part of Piedmont-Healthcare, seeks a skilled First Assistant Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team. The role supports the surgeon as a first assistant during operative and invasive procedures, ensuring sterile technique and timely instrument delivery.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of perioperative services experience, graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program, and hold CST/BCLS and a CSF/CSA/SA-C type certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation.
• 3 years perioperative services experience required.
• Licenses: CST, BCLS, and one of CSA/CSFA/SA-C certifications or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
• Prepares and provides sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.
• Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Education

Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program

Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by Piedmont surgeon during orientation
