Job summary

Strategic Factory is seeking a Mailing Operator in Owings Mills, MD to set up and operate inkjet printers, inserters, and mail preparation processes. You will ensure USPS compliance and enter jobs into the ERP system while supporting the Production team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some training or experience in print/mail is helpful.
  • Experience with inserters (Rival, Flowmaster and Quadient) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of USPS mailing regulations and postal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Verify items are addressed correctly, with proper postage and in suitable condition.
  • Set up and operate inkjet, inserters and labeling equipment and their software.
  • Review job orders to determine type and size of items scheduled for printing and mailing.
  • Prepare finished jobs for the next mailing sequence.
  • Inspect mail machine output for defects and determine how to eliminate causes.
  • Perform minor maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of machinery as needed.
  • Review and inspect jobs to ensure mail conforms to USPS regulations.
  • Prepare envelopes with shipping address, return address, labels, or stamps.
  • Enter finished jobs into the ERP system.
  • Drive a box truck to deliver mail.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned

The person in this position assists the Production department by ensuring internal quality standards and mail conforms to US postal regulations.

Requirements

Education And/or Experience
  • A High School Diploma is required but some prior experience or training in print/mail is necessary.
  • Experience working with inserters. (Rival, Flowmaster and Quadient)
  • Knowledge of USPS mailing regulations and postal standards.
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use postage/print software.
Other Qualifications
  • Ability to write effective correspondence to customers and coworkers
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow job instructions accurately.
  • Current drivers license required, DOT preferred
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include being able to see clearly at 20 inches or less, distinguish colors, and adjust focus
  • Mathematical abilities required by this job include reading a ruler, calculating simple costs, and other basic mathematical skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, one is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, reaching with hands and arms is regularly required to walk, stoop, and bend over and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, as well as other employees. Additionally, the noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud, and usually consists of light machinery, nearby printers, and other employees conversing.
