Tidelands Health is seeking an MRI Technologist II to join our radiology team. The role involves performing MRI procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and documenting exams in the HIS. The ideal candidate will have an radiologic technology background, MRI certification, and experience with IV contrast administration.

This PRN, day-shift position supports a busy hospital environment. As a key member of Radiology, you will contribute to high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care,

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required.
• MRI technology certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and avoid delays.
• Educate and prepare patients for MRI procedures and MR safety.
• Obtain and document accurate patient medical history for radiologist interpretation.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of the procedure.
• Perform MRI procedures as ordered and according to physician’s order.
• Operate MRI equipment and coils to obtain high-quality images.
• Start IV, administer contrast media per protocol.
• Document exam in the hospital information system.
• Clean and maintain imaging equipment.
• May mentor or train students or new hires.

A Brief Overview

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized MRI equipment to produce computer-generated diagnostic images which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. They perform procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.

What You Will Do

• Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.
• Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure and MR safety while utilizing effective communication.
• Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.
• Perform MRI procedures as required based on physician’s order.
• Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of MRI and related coils to obtain highest quality images of the anatomy being scanned.
• Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
• Completion of exam in hospital information system.
• Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.
• May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

Education Qualifications

• Associate's Degree under the completion of a Radiologic Technology program Required or
• Certificate under the completion of MRI technology program Required

Experience Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year MRI experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging - American Registry Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible (if eligible must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire or transfer date) Required
• Radiography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Preferred
• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required
