Trace Systems Inc. seeks a MAF DevOps Engineer for Scott AFB, IL to automate provisioning, upgrades, testing, and API-driven workflows for Mobility Air Forces traffic within EACN. You will build Python automation, integrate with CI/CD, and support lab, development, test, and production environments.

Applicants should have 3+ years DevOps or related experience, DoD 8140-based qualifications, and active US Secret clearance. US citizenship is required for this role.

• Current Cisco DevNet Associate or ability to obtain within six months.
• DoD IA baseline certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience with Python, Git, CI/CD, network APIs, Cisco platforms, and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Automate provisioning and upgrades of network routers and switches supporting MAF Operations.
• Build and maintain Python scripts interacting with network APIs for MAF Operations.
• Develop repeatable automation workflows for configuration, validation, testing, deployment, and rollback.
• Integrate automation with version control and CI/CD; maintain clear technical documentation.
• Support lab, development, test, and production environments used for MAF integration.
• Collaborate with network engineers to reduce manual effort and accelerate controlled deployments.
• Troubleshoot automation failures and network API integrations; support secure software/configuration lifecycle practices.

Job Title: MAF DevOps Engineer

Location: Scott AFB, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking a MAF DevOps Engineer to automate provisioning, upgrades, testing, and API-driven workflows for network infrastructure supporting Mobility Air Forces traffic within EACN. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.

• Automate provisioning and upgrades of network routers and switches that support MAF Operations traffic.
• Build and maintain ad hoc Python scripts that interact with network APIs in support of MAF Operations.
• Develop repeatable automation workflows for configuration, validation, testing, deployment, and rollback.
• Integrate automation with version control and CI/CD processes and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Support lab, development, test, and production environments used for MAF integration.
• Partner with network engineers to reduce manual effort, improve configuration consistency, and accelerate controlled deployments.
• Troubleshoot automation failures and network API integrations and support secure software and configuration lifecycle practices.

In compliance with applicable state and local pay transparency requirements, the following compensation information is provided for this position. The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum compensation Trace reasonably expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.

Salary Minimum: $92,000

Salary Maximum: $120,000

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the Trace salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Minimum Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
• Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 632 System Developer, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
• Qualifying 8140 credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
• Qualifying 8140 certifications may include CSSLP, GCLD, GSEC, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
• 3+ years of DevOps, network automation, software development, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Current Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
• DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
• Experience with Python, Git, CI/CD, network APIs, Cisco platforms, and automated infrastructure testing.

Desired Qualification

• Experience with Mobility Air Forces, EACN, A2G2, airborne communications, or Air Force network environments.
• Experience with GitLab CI, EVE-NG, Ansible, DevSecOps, or classified development environments.
• Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
• Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
