Job Description

Reports to: Principal and ML Teacher

General Summary: The paraprofessional for EL will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school setting

Hours: 35 hours per week and benefits eligible; Monday-Friday, 8:40-4:20 p.m.

Essential Functions:

• Supplement services for EL students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the EL teacher.
• Supplement services for EL students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the EL or classroom teacher.
• Assist students in adapting to a new culture.
• Assist EL students with school work to increase academic language.
• Attend EL Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.
• Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment.
• Ability to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Self‑motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.
• Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable.
