Job summary

Gelber Group LLC in Chicago is offering a 10-week Discretionary Trading Intern program beginning in June 2027. Interns will learn basics of liquid capital markets, how Gelber engages these markets, and the tools that link us to the markets, before joining a discretionary trading desk.

The program combines classroom learning with hands-on desk experience and is designed to evaluate candidates for full-time employment. The internship is temporary and pays about $35 per hour in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior in an undergraduate program, or recent graduate.
• Interest in financial markets is a must, but prior experience is not required.
• Demonstrated interest in economics or a related field via coursework or activities.
• Curiosity, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and collaboration in a competitive environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn and apply new concepts.
• Superior analytical skills with strong mathematical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Experience hands-on learning and sit on a trading desk with full-time traders.
• Gain a thorough understanding of the financial markets through an intensive program.
• Classroom portion tailored to topics for building a discretionary macro process.
• Topics include asset classes, macro fundamentals, technical analysis, and risk management.
• Develop understanding of how macro traders engage with the market and pitch ideas.
• Potential for ideas to be turned into live risk-taking.
• Experience a multi-week simulated trading experience.
• Send daily and weekly reflections to build your trading process.
• Build the foundation of a macro trading process.
