Job summary

Penn Machine Company LLC, a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a qualified Machinist for its Transit Division in Blairsville, PA. The role operates CNC lathes, mills, and gear grinders, reads prints, and documents results to meet tight tolerances in a clean, safe shop.

Normal schedule is Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-12:30am with overtime and potential shift variation. Training is available for candidates with machining backgrounds and a willingness to learn MasterCam or Gear Pro.

Qualifications

• Machining background and knowledge.
• Programming experience and training preferred.
• Experience programming in MasterCam and Gear Pro is a plus.
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret prints using measuring equipment.
• Machine shop environment background preferred.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts; training available.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes, mills, and/or gear grinders and use hand/power tools as needed.
• Replace worn inserts, drills, or tooling and adjust feed/speed rates.
• Complete work assignments and related reports promptly.
• Verify components with measuring instruments to ensure tolerances.
• Operate forklift and crane hoist to move materials as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Penn Machine Company LLC, a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway Company, is a leading manufacturer of products and services for the transit, railroad, oil/gas, and mining industries.

We are seeking a qualified individual for a full-time position for our Transit Division in Blairsville, PA. Our Machinists operate equipment necessary to produce quality components to specifications on prints while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Normal schedule is Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-12:30am.

Primary responsibilities

• Operate and maintain operation of CNC lathes, mills, and/or gear grinders as well as hand and power tools as required to perform job assignments.
• Replace worn inserts, drills or tooling and adjust feed/speed rates.
• Complete work assignments and associated reports in a timely manner.
• Verify machine components with measuring instruments to ensure parts are made within tolerances.
• Operate powered industrial forklift and crane hoist to transfer and position materials as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean and well organized work area.

Requirements for Positions

• Machining background - knowledge of and/or machining background.
• Programming experience and training is preferred.
• Experience programming in MasterCam and/or Gear Pro is a plus.
• Strong background to read, understand, and interpret prints, with using measuring equipment, in completing reports and documentation, and ability to read and understand written directions and procedures.
• Machine shop environment background preferred.
• Self-motivated and willing to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts, when required We are willing to train a candidate with a machining and mechanical background and the right attitude to succeed.
